Catchup
Last Wednesday I went to the knitting meetup at the Second Cup on Monkland. There were some new faces and some old, and I have to confess I only knit about 3 rows, because I made the mistake of bringing Bernie's cabled scarf and I kept messing up the cables and tinking back. Veronik was very kind and offered to show me some knitting machine tricks so I could get going on Yafit's Glam Coat.

Friday we had dinner with Julie and Rich then came back here for a very long poker tournament. Yannick was out first, then Julie. I was very close, but at 3:00am Rich finally kicked my butt.

Saturday I went to Veronik's. Wow did I learn a lot! Thank you so much, Veronik, for showing me everything that you did. You were right, some of it was easy to execute, but I needed to be shown it first to understand. When I got home Yannick asked me if he could put away the knitting machine box- no way, not now that I've figured it all out. Mona came by too and we spent the afternoon with coffee, knitting and chat. I had a great time.

Sunday was (ugh) clean the house day, then dinner at my parents'. Too scatterbrained to knit.

Tonight I went to Curves and am typing this as I wait for my dinner to cook. Yannick has to go out later, so I just might get some cables knocked out.

Today is...
...the first day of the rest of my life.

:]

I've joined Curves, and tonight was my first workout. Yes, I've been doing the Oxycise thing, and I've been able to maintain perfectly. I want to lose. I have incentive. I have moral support. I'm doing it.

I've also finished my scrapbook of my Las Vegas trip, so I can finally start knitting again! Tonight, after I eat my veggie sushi (I'm not a vegetarian, I just LOVE avocado) I will sit down in bed and pick up the 2 needles that have been lacking for so long. Bernie's scarf will be the first thing I tackle.

To my secret pal: thank you again! I was showing the stuff to Yannick yesterday and he couldn't stop feeling the Baby Silk. He thinks it would make comfy socks. I don't think they'd wear well, but he doesn't care. He doesn't seem to understand it was a gift for ME. :)

Secret Pal, you made my day! I hadn't heard from you in a long time, so between the Secret Pal exchange and the FiberRAOK list (of which I sent out quite a few things and received back a big fat nada except 2 books and a crystal that I asked for), I was losing faith in the whole "spoil a knitter" movement. And then today this arrives:

There's 2 skeins of scrumptious silk wool, gummy bears, hand-made stitch markers, and hand-made sushi candles! Pal, I want you to know these are the only stitch markers I've ever received (except 5 my boyfriend made for me) and I just love them. Can I say I'm biased towards the ladybug ones? They are the most precoious things I've seen! And the sushi candles are just perfect! Did you know that Thursdays are "sushi Thursdays" 'cus that's what I order every Thursday from work for supper? I love them, you did such a wonderful job! Thank you so much for everything, it really means a lot to me. Thank you.

Silence...
Hi.

I know it's been a while since my last post. I didn't mean to worry anyone, and to you who called me at home, that was really sweet of you. I'm sorry I didn't return your call yet, I've been busy with Yannick and family stuff, but please know that it was a very pleasant surprise when I saw the blinking "1" and heard the message. :)

Last week Yannick left to work up north for the week leaving me alone all week. I didn't want to say that in a blog post but then I remembered that the only ones who read this and have my address...well I have yours too so I can retaliate. :) I used the time to work on some knitting, did about 1 foot on Bernie's scarf and did a gauge swatch on the machine for Yafit's jacket (I wasn't getting gauge properly with hand knitting).

Then Yannick came home Thursday night and it was the first night I'd seen him since Sunday afternoon so we turned off the phones and cell. Friday night Julie and Richard came over to play cards (Yannick won the Texas Hold 'Em tournament - $20!!) and Saturday was just for Yannick and I. I decided that if he's going to be spending the weeks up north than we deserve at least one weekend night alone together. We shopped for groceries and I made a wicked pasta.

Sunday we picked up some scrapbooking stuff so I could work on my album from Vegas and that's all I've done since. Ok, I spent last night at my aunt's house with my family, but last night until 12:30am and tonight from the minute I got home is spent on the scrapbook. There's so much stuff to buy! Thank God I'm only making an album for 1 trip, because this could get way too expensive! (Plus I'd rather keep my $$$ for knitting stuff.)

I (regrettably) told Yannick I'd have the album ready on Friday when he comes home, so I'll be working on that all week, except tomorrow night when Debbie comes over for dinner after her workout. So I won't be doing much knitting this week, and I might not do that much blogging.

But I'm here, and I'm good. Oh, and I'm really happy. No real reason, just things are going good.

Well, except for this heat.

p.s. Secret pal, you still out there? I haven't heard from you in a few weeks...hope all is good!
